How Long Does Rhinoplasty Take in Medellín?
Rhinoplasty generally takes around 1 to 2 hours to complete. Surgeries are performed after the patient is administered general or local anesthesia. Our surgeries are headed by Dr. Juan David Londoño at the exclusive state-of-the-art operating rooms of the El Tesoro Medical Tower in Medellín.
There are two methods we employ for a rhinoplasty procedure. A closed rhinoplasty or an endonasal rhinoplasty will have incisions and sutures placed inside the nose. This technique is less invasive and leads to no visible scarring post-surgery. On the other hand, an open rhinoplasty or an external rhinoplasty will place incisions on the columella that connect the nasal tip to its base. Open surgery is more invasive but allows for more accurate reshaping and contouring.
After surgery, patients are to wear a cast or splint to let the nose tissue heal. It will be removed after 7-10 days. During your recovery, you will be given key guidelines to follow to help you achieve your desired results. Some important recommendations include avoiding makeup for at least 1 week, maintaining a healthy balanced diet, avoiding touching or blowing the nose, and resting as much as possible.
Post-surgery, protecting yourself from exposure to direct sunlight is also essential. You should further avoid any situation that may lead to trauma on the nose.
